Berg Cup - First Blog Post

First blog post! Trying to keep up to date with team progress and such so we will try out best to keep the story of ASU crew current. What prompts this? We just finished the day at the Berg Cup in Newport Beach. The Berg Cup is just a women’s race, although the men will be racing in the Newport Regatta tomorrow. The women drove up yesterday afternoon and after a quick meal went right to bed. The hotel was right across from the Orange Coast Crew boathouse, so that was definitely convenient. This morning, coxswains were up for a 6:45 am meeting and the rowers were at the boathouse by 7:30 am They had a quick snack, stretched out, warmed up and launched just before 8:30 am for a 9:00 am start. When the women were approaching the boathouse with about 650 meters left, they looked really solid and were walking on UC Irvine. As they passed, they did have a seat or two on Irvine and were in first. As they headed into the sprint, Irvine was able to just inch them out. They finished about two seats behind the Irvine Women, but it was a really solid race. The Women looked in-time, focused and strong when they passed the boathouse. There will be pictures on the Instagram soon. Next move for the women is a solid month of intense training for WIRA.
