Coach Bruce - Novice Team’s Coach

Born in Ankara, Turkey, Coach Bruce discovered his passion for rowing during his high school years at Washington-Lee High School. He went on to row for the University of Washington, where he graduated in 1979 with a BA in History and Political Science. After college, Bruce shifted gears—literally—pursuing competitive motorcycle racing from 1981 to 1989.

In 2012, Bruce moved to Arizona, embracing the desert lifestyle before retiring in 2023. However, his love for rowing was reignited after watching The Boys in the Boat, a film that rekindled memories of his own experiences on the water. Now, as the Novice Team’s Coach, Bruce brings decades of experience, a deep appreciation for the sport, and a passion for guiding the next generation of rowers.
